CARE has been present in Colombia since 2018 through local partners. In 2019, CARE established a physical presence in the country due to the overlapping crisis in Colombia, such as the consequences of the internal armed conflict and the impacts of the Venezuelan migration crisis.

The CARE Colombia office was established having as commitment ensuring a mainstreamed gender approach to contribute to humanitarian response, facilitate the peacebuilding process, guarantee the gender equity, promote the food security, strengthen the economic justice, and reducing the impacts of the climate change, specially for women and girls, according to the doble and triple nexus approach.

CARE Colombia develops its action through strategically located field offices across the country, in border regions, and areas affected by the armed conflict. By December 2023, CARE Colombia has implemented more than 29 projects in 17 municipalities in 9 departments some of them articulating the humanitarian response to the Venezuelan crisis and the affectation of the internal armed conflict in communities that overlap these dynamics.

CARE Colombia's work has been possible thanks to the support of different institutional, private and public donors, such as European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection -ECHO, GIZ, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Germany – GFFO-, BHA, IOM, PEPSICO, SODEXO, AFD (Agence Française de Développement), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, among others.

CARE works worldwide to save lives, defeat poverty, and achieve social justice. We seek a world of hope, inclusion, and social justice, where poverty has been overcome and all people live with dignity and security.
